Changes to names in the Sheng Zhen system

Greetings from the heart to heart!

Master Li has been teaching Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong for over 14 years. He and I (Jing) have been traveling to different countries and regions to teach Sheng Zhen.

We have noticed that even when experienced Sheng Zhen teachers share an insight, they keep saying “When I teach Qigong,….”, while they mean when they teach Sheng Zhen qigong. We have noticed that the word “Qigong” is deeply rooted in our practitioners mind rather than “Sheng Zhen”.

Below, you will find two important announcements that relate to changes in the name of our practice and in the names of some of the forms. These name changes will help to spread the practice, reduce misunderstanding, and help pracitioners to know and remember Sheng Zhen. Please read each of these announcements carefully.

These name changes will be reflected in the new international website, scheduled for launch in July, 2012. Please begin using the new names in your classes and please update your teaching website and marketing materials to reflect the new names.

We know this change will create curiosity and questions for you and your students. Some of these questions are valid (e.g. “will new students that search on the term qigong still be able to find my website and my classes?”) while others will become unimportant as you speak and become accustomed to the new names. We will notify you as we collect and work to address the important questions.

First announcement: the name of our practice is: SHENG ZHEN GONG

The word Qigong is today a confusing concept. It is a collective name for all energy practices from China. Some kinds of Qigong today only refer to physical EXERCISE and/or mental EXERCISE. More than that, Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong is also a form of inner cultivation. Sheng Zhen practice involves the Heart and Spirit. That is why we want to emphasize the name “Sheng Zhen” rather than the collective name for all energy practice – Qigong.

We want people to know us and remember that the name of our practice is SHENG ZHEN GONG. This name came through Master Li, Anabel, and Jing’s meditation in April, 2012. As we all know, words have meaning and power. The name Sheng Zhen carries the power of Unconditional Love originated from the universe.

The meaning of Sheng Zhen Gong and Qigong are different, please understand this. As an example: like each one of you, you are human (comparing to the term Qigong), but you have your own name (as in the name Sheng Zhen Gong). Your name carries your personal traits (like Sheng Zhen Gong has its unique meaning and effect). You want people to remember your name and know who you are, so does Sheng Zhen Gong.

In the name Sheng Zhen Gong, “Gong” means the practice, it is also the abbreviation of Qigong. The name Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong is long, it is not easy for people to pronounce and remember, therefore, we have a shorter but still accurate name: SHENG ZHEN GONG. From today, please practice saying Sheng Zhen Gong. In Chinese Pin-Yin, Gong is pronounced like “gung”. We hope not only you, but also your students will be able to say the correct and complete name of our practice – Sheng Zhen Gong!

There are Sheng Zhen Gong teachers and practitioners who are afraid that people will not know that Sheng Zhen Gong is Qigong. That’s why they keep saying Qigong instead of Sheng Zhen Gong. This worry is not needed. Sheng Zhen Gong is still Qigong. There are many forms of Qigong such as Six Healing Sounds, Ba Duan Jin, or Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong – they all are well-known forms of Qigong though their names do not have the word “Qigong”. This is very common in China. Refer to our example above, please do not worry that people will not know you are a human being (Qigong) if you call yourself Susan or Peter (Sheng Zhen Gong). If you have a name (Sheng Zhen Gong), you give people a chance to know you better.

There are Sheng Zhen teachers with this understanding: people know the name Qigong, but people do not know what is Sheng Zhen Gong, so I just say I teach Qigong. This is like saying, whenDr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG just entered the Automobile industry, the Porsche engineers said, “since people know cars but not Porsche, let’s just tell people we also have cars….” The Porsche example is still not enough to express the point we are making.

Sheng Zhen Gong is in the Qigong family, but Qigong is not Sheng Zhen Gong. Qigong has different levels. Some forms of Qigong teach people to gather qi from pan tree, make the person strong but the tree weaker. That is definitely NOT Sheng Zhen Gong. That kind of Qigong actually deviates from the Sheng Zhen spirit. The mission of Sheng Zhen Gong goes beyond the common concept of Qigong. Qigong is an ancient treasure from China. Sheng Zhen Gong is a gift from Heaven to help people find value and true happiness in life. Will you still say Qigong when you mean Sheng Zhen Gong?

Second anouncement: Each Sheng Zhen Practice/Form has its own name.

In order to spread the practice of Sheng Zhen Gong and reduce misunderstanding, each of the Sheng Zhen forms has its own name. These simplified names will remove the difficulties in introducing and promoting the Sheng Zhen forms to others. When the name of the specific spiritual teacher i.,e., Jesus Standing, is attached to the name of the form, it can actually be divisive for people who still do not have the experience that all spiritual paths merge in the ocean of love. Below are the new names.
