Sheng Zhen Gong
Sundays 6:15-7:15pm
March 3-July 28; (No class June 2)
By Donation

Sheng Zhen Gong (qigong) involves gentle movement, breath, and stillness that nurtures your awareness and a kind relationship with your body and self. This class will focus on quieting your mind, relaxing your body, and soothing your heart. This practice helps induce a relaxation response that may positively impact the body’s natural healing ability and increase your sense of balance in a seemingly stressful world. Heaven Nature Gong, a standing moving form, will be taught at the beginning of each class, and it will end with a seated form, Awakening the Soul- Timeless and Universal Healing. Beginners and newcomers are always welcome. No preregistration required; drop-ins welcome.

Rebecca Gould is a certified Sheng Zhen Gong teacher. She has studied with Master Li Junfeng since 2006 and began teaching in 2008 in Washington State, where she worked as a massage and craniosacral therapist as well. Rebecca is currently living in Austin to study Sheng Zhen on a weekly basis with Master Li and use her writing and copy editing skills to assist the International Sheng Zhen Society. Rebecca’s students appreciate her calm and cheerful demeanor as well as her clear, detailed instruction. Contact Rebecca at rebecca@elementalharmony.info.

Join Rebecca Gould on Wednesday nights for an hour of self-healing meditative movement and poetic contemplations!

This is an ongoing weekly class, Wednesdays, 6:15-7:15pm. Drop-ins, newcomers, and beginners are always welcome; no pre-registration required. The cost is $10 per class. Passes are also available. http://sanctuaryyogaaustin.com/schedule/

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Qigong (chi kung) is the root of Tai Chi and Acupuncture and referred to by some as Chinese Yoga. These practices are designed to help you feel internal and external Qi (vital life force enery) while increasing circulation throughout your body, have greater focus, and build strength, all the while relaxing your body and mind. The focus of Qigong in general is on building a reservoir of Qi (also known as prana) in your core and being more aware of balance, breath and alignment, which will ultimately cross over into your Yoga practice and other activities as well.

In this class, Sheng Zhen Gong will be the primary system taught, with a focus this Spring and Summer on the form Heaven Nature Gong. This Qigong enhances physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being through gentle movements and poetic contemplations that express the “flavor” of the movements. Above all, Sheng Zhen focuses on opening the Heart and the power of the energy of Love. Supreme Science Qigong may also be included in some classes. These practices are gentle and easy to learn, appropriate for all ages and fitness levels. Newcomers and beginners are always welcome! For more information, visit http://elementalharmony.info/qigong/.

TEACHER BIO:
